Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for leading a best in class unified marketing and communications function and structure for BILH. The SVP will take the lead in identifying and driving improvements to communications and marketing integration and alignment across the organization, ensuring alignment with the system’s Blueprint 2030 strategic plan, purpose statement, and WE CARE values. The SVP will oversee the development and implementation of a strategic communications and marketing plan that shapes the health system’s reputation in the market and establishes BILH as a national leader in clinical quality and exceptional care; effectively articulates and differentiates the system’s unified vision for programs and services and unique advantages and benefits in the market, and excites employee engagement. The SVP will oversee the design, execution, and coordination of all initiatives associated with employee communications, media relations, crisis communications, and marketing initiatives. The SVP will take the lead on streamlining communications and marketing service delivery to ensure effective, efficient, and high-quality client services to the system.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Excellent management and leadership skills. Identify, engage, develop and mentor a cohesive, high performing communications and marketing team comprising of subject matter experts and best in class talent to drive measurable results. Share a vision which inspires team members to collaborate and feel invested in an organizational purpose that is larger and more important than any individual concern or contribution.
- Build staffing infrastructure and lead, direct, motivate and guide full-time and contractual staff, promoting teamwork and fostering the effective integration, coordination, and alignment of communications and marketing initiatives across the system. Create a positive team culture that centers around continuous learning, and provides team members with ongoing feedback, development, and support toward aligned performance expectations, deep collaboration and growth.
- Develop and build effective relationships with executive team, hospital and clinical unit leadership, and key stakeholders understanding their needs and perspectives to inform communication strategies and advance organizational goals.
- Collaborate closely with executives to align and coordinate communication initiatives with the objectives and priorities of the organization and promote initiatives through strategic executive visibility plans.
- Work with leadership to proactively establish, implement, and maintain strategic communications and marketing, community relations, and media relations programs for BILH that advance strategic initiatives and support business goals and objectives. Identify strategic benchmarks and track performance against those measures. Develop and execute tailored communication strategies for BILH’s hospitals and clinical units, ensuring consistency and alignment across all entities. Connect the values and strategic initiatives of hospitals and clinical units with the broader organization, ensuring alignment and effective communication across BILH.
- Oversee development, coordination, and implementation of a broad range of public and internal communication activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, applying relevant knowledge to enhance communication strategies for the organization. Identify and direct market research in support of system and service line marketing to assess the value of marketing programs and to demonstrate ROI where appropriate.
- Evaluate new marketing opportunities for the BILH’s business efforts with external parties, primarily, but not necessarily exclusively, in relation to clinical activities.
- Integrate efforts across the system to accomplish uniform and consistent branding and messaging.
- Oversee management of internal and external communications as crises arise, in order to minimize their impact to the organization. Ensure all system wide communications are high-quality and appropriate to establish strategies and standards that build/support the brand.
- Manage communications and marketing budget, ensuring proper follow-up of approved expenditures.
- Create and/or participate in appropriate performance improvement initiatives for MARCOMM, demonstrating quality improvement and efficiency in daily operations.

Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of progressive relevant leadership experience within a large, complex, and matrixed organization. At least 10 years of supervisory/management experience.
- Experience will include strategic communications, internal and external communications, media relations, employee engagement, planning and research, branding and promotion, digital marketing/CRM, marketing communications.

- A strategic thinker who is both analytical and creative in his/her approach to issue/opportunity identification and definition, and able to apply market intelligence to draw conclusions.
- Excellent planning and project management skills. Competence in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a strong results/goal orientation. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and manage resources to achieve objectives within prescribed timeframes.
- Excellent writing, communication, and presenting/public speaking skills. Organized and detail-oriented; ability to execute goals and delegate assignments.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior health care industry experience is strongly preferred, including experience in post-merger integration and in building a high performing communications and marketing team.
- Master’s degree in management, business administration, marketing communications or related field.
