The Role
We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Retail Marketing to drive Cometeer’s growth strategy and execution across retail channels, including natural, specialty, conventional, club, and digital. In this role, you will work closely with the broader marketing team, including CRM, creative, digital product, and brand, and also with the broader sales, finance, and operations teams. You will report directly to our President. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter who independently and consistently seeks opportunities to improve sales metrics, generate/optimize revenue opportunities, run effective sales/marketing campaigns, and enhance the customer experience across the board at Cometeer. They also need to be a supportive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high impact and cross-functional work environment.
What you’ll do:
Campaign Strategy and Planning
- Manage our field marketing strategy including training systems, resource management, performance, and reporting.
- Lead shopper marketing initiatives in collaboration with our retail partners to drive trial and loyalty (e.g. in-store signage, circulars, social sharing campaigns, influencer-driven awareness)
- Design and lead in-store couponing strategy to drive sales velocity in partnership with the internal sales team, external coupon clearinghouse, and retail partners.
- Work with visual merchandising and store operations partners to plan and execute a sustainable, repeatable life cycle of all marketing initiatives ranging from core product, platform initiatives, and collaborations.
- Project manage cross-functionally led campaigns across CRM, product, social, communications, marketing and creative to deliver retail awareness.
- Lead trade show planning, booth, and operational design for national and regional shows and events.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and stakeholders are informed
Retail Partnerships and Media
- Lead our digital merchandising efforts with our retail partners (GoPuff, Instacart, etc.) to include effective and consistent messaging, photography, videos, etc..
- Work closely with media buyers to amplify campaigns and launches. (Instacart, Citrus, etc.)
- Project manage retail-focused collaborations with relevant CPGs brands. (IE. Partnering with oatmilk provider for in-store lattes or ice cream brand for affogatos)
Creative Development
- Lead creative efforts for all retail marketing including physical advertising (clings, packaging, custom freezers, merchandising displays) to increase consumer awareness and purchasing in-store.
- Provide signage briefs for all in-store branding, marketing and promo needs (sign boards, sign packs), providing marketing feedback and ensuring completion
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Manage marketing launch plans to include brand strategies and product launches while measuring and tracking KPI’s
- Monitor and report on success of campaigns and provide guidance to the sales team on effective strategies for brand message and positioning.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing (retail, wholesale channel, or related marketing roles) preferably in the Food/Beverage/CPG industry.
- Strong strategic, analytical thinker with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience building and launching high performing retail marketing programs.
- Ability to identify priorities and set departmental deadlines based on a broader understanding of company objectives, leveraging organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset to achieve deliverables.
- Background in analytics including customer data, order data, and store performance data—with the expertise to determine a comprehensive strategy and tactical actions based on KPIs.
- Ability to develop, test, and potentially implement hypotheses based on specific analytical inquiries and strategic objectives
- Understands how to prioritize and tackle problems that vary in size and complexity
- Ability to work well independently and in close collaboration with teammates
