Sr. Director, HCP Marketing (Diabetes) – Northridge, CA (On-site, Hybrid or Remote in CA)

We are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Sr. Director, Health Care Provider Marketing to join our innovative marketing team. As the HCP Marketing Sr. Director, you will play a critical role in developing and executing marketing strategies targeted specifically towards healthcare professionals (HCPs). Your primary focus will be to drive brand awareness, engagement, and advocacy among HCPs, ultimately contributing to the success of our portfolio of Diabetes products. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the perception and adoption of our Medtronic Diabetes Brand and products with HCPs, driving their engagement and ultimately improving patient outcomes so people living with diabetes can enjoy greater freedom and better health. 

You will be required to work on-site at one of our regional site locations: Northridge, California, Minneapolis, MN, San Diego, CA or San Antonio, TX location three (3) days per week. This on-site presence is crucial to fostering collaboration and maintaining a strong connection with our team and the workplace environment. Your direct manager, will be your point of contact to help you navigate and ensure a seamless integration into our workplace culture. Your Manager will be available to connect with you on your on-site days, providing guidance, support, and facilitating your successful transition into your role. Travel is required for this role.

A Day in the Life

  • Develop HCP marketing strategy: Create and implement comprehensive marketing strategies specifically tailored to target HCPs that drive revenue for the entire Diabetes portfolio. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs and Sales, to align marketing efforts with overall business goals. This includes the leadership of global HCP strategy and influence, with direct US responsibility.
  • HCP engagement initiatives: Identify opportunities to engage with HCPs through various channels such as conferences, seminars, webinars, and digital platforms. Develop and execute impactful initiatives that enhance relationships, provide educational value, and promote the benefits of our products. Develop and execute global congress strategy and US congress planning and execution including virtual and in-person exhibits, product theaters, promotions, and ancillary events.
  • Content development and management: Collaborate with cross functional teams to create accurate, compelling, and relevant content for HCPs. Drive the clinical evidence plan and strategy, in partnership with PACE, product marketing, and MDs. This includes partnering on the launch of new products and sustain existing ones, including managing HCP web content, executing on social/digital campaigns, messaging, collateral development.
  • Thought leadership and opinion leader engagement: Identify and engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and influential HCPs. Foster relationships, seek endorsements, and leverage their expertise to amplify the credibility and reach of our products.
  • Market research and insights: Conduct market research and analysis to understand HCP behaviors, needs, and preferences. Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging healthcare innovations to inform strategic decision-making and the HCP segmentation and engagement strategy.
  • Collaboration with sales teams: Partner with the sales teams to develop HCP-focused sales tools, training materials, and resources. Provide guidance and support to ensure effective HCP targeting, segmentation, and messaging alignment.
  • Compliance and regulatory adherence: Ensure all marketing activities and materials comply with relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards. Work closely with legal and compliance teams to review and approve promotional materials and campaigns.
  • Performance tracking and reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of HCP marketing initiatives. Conduct regular engagement with field force and collect feedback to incorporate suggestions as appropriate. Regularly track, analyze, and report on marketing activities, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
  • Success Profile for this Leader: Proven experience in HCP marketing within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry. Strong strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute integrated marketing plans across geographies and product lines and customer types. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence HCPs. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Experience in leveraging digital platforms and technologies for HCP engagement, including experience with Eloqua. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in using marketing analytics tools and platforms as well as Excel expertise to derive insights and drive data-based decision-making. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners. Sales orientation or exposure to working with a high performing salesforce is very helpful. Proven track record of leadership, self-motivation and taking initiative, can-do attitude, driving results in complicated environments, and effectively operating and delivering with minimal direction.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications): 

  • 3+ years HCP marketing experience (downstream preferred).
  • Advanced degree/MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in downstream HCP marketing within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including understanding of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and compliance considerations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute integrated marketing plans across geographies and product lines and customer types.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence HCPs.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan. Learn more about Medtronic Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) here. The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
