Job Description

As an essential member of the regional Marketing, Arts & Events team, the Specialist, Digital Marketing will employ proven and emergent marketing tactics to support Brookfield Properties initiatives across the Calgary region, including promotional campaigns, channel and community management, project communications, art programs and events. 

Working closely with the Director, Marketing, Arts & Events and the Manager, Arts & Events, the specialist will realize corporate and individual property objectives through the advancement and stewardship of the organization’s brand by developing strategic and engaging collateral and content and executing marketing campaigns. They will ensure national and global marketing programs are successfully delivered at a regional level, adhering to Brookfield Properties’ brand guidelines. They will be responsible for creating and disseminating creative assets and communications that advance the leasing and tenant engagement efforts across the Calgary office portfolio.

The Specialist, Digital Marketing will be comfortable using design software and social and digital platforms and is expected to understand, recognize, and advise on technology trends and innovations and how they can be used to maximize team effectiveness. They will track and report campaign metrics and analytics and interpret key findings to inform the departmental strategy. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Collateral Development & Design

  • Using design best practices, produce consistent, creative, and impactful marketing collateral that adheres to Brookfield Properties’ global brand guidelines
  • Using Adobe Creative Cloud apps and/or Canva, design creative assets to support all Brookfield Properties arts & events, retail, and tenant engagement initiatives
  • Work with external arts organizations, retailers, and community-building agencies to develop collaborative campaigns
  • Ensure national promotional program assets are adapted for the Calgary region and deployed through various channels

Social Media Content Management

  • Oversee and coordinate social media content strategy, deployment schedule, and calendar that supports departmental and individual property initiatives, including documentation and broadcast of events
  • Manage and update Brookfield Properties’ social media channels, including drafting compelling post copy
  • Monitor channels and respond to comments, complaints, and inquiries as outlined by Brookfield’s social media policies

Tenant Engagement App and Digital Networks 

  • Create posts and draft supporting copy to advance the Arts & Events programming, tenant engagement programs, cause-related initiatives, and retail promotions
  • Implement strategies for onboarding, engaging, and retaining tenants on the app, including but not limited to coordinating and scheduling monthly app subscriber promotions and incentives
  • Monitor app functionality and user experience and report any challenges or bugs to third-party app provider
  • Create and schedule promotions and notices for in-property digital screens (Cineplex and Captivate networks)

Email Strategy & Campaigns 

  • Produce and disseminate targeted e-mail campaigns for distribution to multiple databases for both external and internal audiences
  • Track campaign results and analytics to maximize future campaigns
  • Manage database to drive growth while adhering to CASL regulations

Website Management

  • Manage regional websites, including making backend content updates and directing the marketing agency to make site infrastructure updates
  • Create, edit, and publish page content using search engine optimization (SEO) best practices
  • Maintain online retail directories and retailer portals

General Consultation & Team Support 

  • Work with individual properties, retailer tenants, and internal stakeholders and committees to create fresh, relevant targeted content for digital channels and platforms
  • Support retail openings and redevelopment milestones with digital content and communications
  • Administer and promote online contesting and marketing programs through digital channels and platforms
  • Track and measure data and analytics and provide consistent key findings reports to team members and senior leadership
  • Work directly with external marketing agencies on brand and program campaigns, as needed
  • Recommend technology innovations and solutions that reflect current industry best practices and market trends as part of the overall regional strategy
  • Manage and maintain digital filing and project management systems
  • Ensure compliance with organizational communication policies, procedures, and brand standards
  • Actively participate and engage in departmental planning and team meetings
  • Perform other administrative duties to support the success of the department, as required

QUALIFICATIONS

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS: 

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Positive and professional demeanor with outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including aptitude to manage the administration of contracts, forms, digital filing systems, and project management tools

  • The successful candidate must be flexible to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays when documenting events, programming, and arts & culture initiatives.

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • 2-3 years previous experience in a marketing, communications, or design role(s)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Applicable experience using Adobe Creative Cloud apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Canva
  • High-level understanding of most current operating systems and web browser functionality
  • High-level understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles
  • High proficiency in social media platforms, software, and social marketing tactics, in particular: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Sprout Social or equivalent.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and B2C, and B2B marketing trends
  • Understanding of CASL and other national or provincial communication legislation
  • Working knowledge of simple HTML coding an asset
  • Experience in retail or real estate marketing an asset

EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, graphic design, or communications or equivalent work experience is required
  • Supplementary digital marketing training, accreditation, and/or course(s) an asset
