Senior Marketing Spend Advisor – Marketing Efficiency for Growth

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.

Your Impact

In this role, you will handle data by cleaning, validating, and summarizing it, primarily in Excel, using tools such as VLOOKUP, merging multiple data sources, and validating outputs with Pivot tables and charts.

You will upload data into our proprietary tools and convert marketing data into high-value analysis to drive insights and recommendations for our clients.

You will transfer numbers from proprietary tools to standardized presentations, perform sanity checks on the numbers, and ensure quality and accuracy. Additionally, you will automate analyses and recurring, standardized tasks using Excel formulas or Tableau workflows.

You will collaborate with solution leadership, product, and engineering teams to suggest solution improvements, conduct user acceptance testing, and provide feedback on new features. You will also train and support clients and client service teams (CSTs) on the effective use of the solution.

Lastly, you will work with the client delivery team on projects, discussing key insights, addressing questions about analytical recommendations, and supporting ongoing business processes by delivering high-quality end products on time.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine McKinsey’s highly professional environment with the entrepreneurial spirit and dynamism of a start-up.

You will join the MEG (Marketing Efficiency for Growth) solution team, based in our San Jose, Costa Rica office, within the Growth Marketing & Sales Practice. In this role, you will collaborate with experienced solution and integrative consulting colleagues who are deeply passionate about creating innovative and impactful products for our end users in the client marketing organization, including Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) and Brand Managers.

MEG represents the productization of McKinsey’s approach to evaluating marketing spend, diagnosing inefficiencies, and recommending strategies to reinvest funds for growth. Over the past four years, our solution has been instrumental in serving 235 clients, including many iconic and marquee brands.

Our mission is to create the “Marketing Operating System of the Future”—a comprehensive approach to help clients navigate the complexities of modern marketing. With the proliferation of channels and suppliers, rising customer expectations, increasing media costs, and heightened market volatility, we aim to address critical challenges and unlock missed opportunities for our clients.

Your Growth

Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture – doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.

In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we’ll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you’ll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
