Senior Marketing Manager

As the Senior Marketing Manager, you are a driving force behind our success, collaborating closely with our ownership team in a dynamic partnership. In this pivotal role, you’ll spearhead the execution of marketing strategy and provide creative leadership to our talented team. Your expertise will be pivotal in managing budgets, orchestrating product launches, creating engaging and impactful materials for our incredible sales team, and elevating our brand through PR initiatives, actively contributing to shaping our marketing vision. Furthermore, your ability to foster collaboration across functions will be instrumental in our overall growth.

In order to do this well, you will have a deep passion for the brewery brand and lifestyle, i.e., beer, service,the culture around hospitality andbeer —and you’ll exhibit the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why your ideas are analytically sound. Most importantly, you will play a major hands-on role in any given campaign. You will be working with ownership on fast-paced and exciting projects.

Your day-to-day will include office hours at the Cinderlands Warehouse in the Strip District, the hub of the Cinderlands universe. You’ll set your quarterly priorities with the ownership team, and no two weeks will be exactly the same. There will be some routine work in graphic design and marketing, but the bulk of your time will be spent making a difference where it counts most for the company. Your days will be spent drawing on your communication and organizational skill to juggle dozens of events, clients, and partners as you make clear plans designed for success. You’ll work with talented teammates in marketing, sales, events, service, kitchen, and brewing and then share a shift beer with the crew at the end of the day.

Your office hours will give way to nights and weekends packed with public events that are huge opportunities for our brand in deepening our ties to our community. All the hard work you put in over months and weeks to plan occasions down to every last detail come together in these big, punctuated moments enjoyed by thousands of people.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Strategy and Leadership:
  • Work closely with ownership to help develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Sales Team, Graphic Designer, and Social Media Manager
  • Budget Management and Reporting:
  • Manage and optimize the marketing budget, including processing invoices in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Implement measurement and reporting mechanisms to track the performance of marketing campaigns.
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Plan and execute strategic goals and action steps with regard to Marketing and Sales targets. Develop marketing projects from start to finish and track results. Be responsible for customer acquisition and revenue targets.
  • Manage sales and promotional events:
  • The brewery will occasionally run sales and promotional events in-house, in the trade, and at partners’ events. The senior marketing manager must ensure these events are well-run and promote the brewery in the best way possible.
  • Distribute marketing materials created by third party partners:
  • Work in conjunction with the sales and marketing teams to produce advertising and marketing materials. The senior marketing manager will also be required to work with third party agencies. Once a plan for promotional materials has been developed, they must ensure it is correctly executed.
  • Brand Image:
  • Own and build the style guide and champion the brand tone and consistency across all platforms. Manage an extensive library of intellectual property and digital assets, including historical archives.
  • Creative Writing:
  • Develop and assist with writing, editing and proofreading original content (social media, email campaigns, etc.) Act as a brand steward to assure all writing is one voice and advances established brand narratives. A passion for storytelling.
  • Email Marketing:
  • Manage various email campaigns, including the template designs, calls-to-action, and content used in our email sends. Utilize predictive lifecycle and retention marketing platforms via third-party vendors.
  • Photography:
  • Manage photography team to ensure consistency across all platforms with regard to product photography and lifestyle photography.
  • Social Media & Influencer:
  • Display in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms and their respective participants (Blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and how each platform can be maximized in different scenarios.
  • Creative Assets:
  • Develop strategies to build and implement creative assets made by the design team to use across all mediums to drive traffic to achieve strategic targets.

Requirements:

  • Relevant mid to senior level marketing experience required
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven

  • Must be able to formulate marketing plans and then carry them out.
  • Must be able to measure and document the impact of marketing, and then suggest action steps to increase impact.

  • Demonstrate strong planning skills, prioritizing and managing conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
  • Beer industry experience preferred. Degree in Marketing, Communications or equivalent work experience is a bonus.

Position details:

  • Position type: full-time, salaried, exempt.
  • Salary range: $62,000 – $76,000 depending on experience and qualifications
  • UPMC Health Plan premium paid 50% by company. Options for health, dental and vision.
  • Two weeks paid time off, one more week unpaid.
  • Beer, meal, and merchandise privileges at our locations.
  • Reports to ownership
  • This position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Cinderlands Beer Co. is a six-year-old Pittsburgh brewery with two brewpub locations (Strip District, Lawrenceville) and a satellite taproom (Wexford). The Cinderlands Foederhouse won gold medals for Brett Beer in 2021 and Experimental Beer in 2023 at the Great American Beer Festival for Gregg, our bière de coupage, and Hill & Hollow: Cayuga, respectively.
