Senior Marketing Automation Specialist

As part of Aviva’s Digital Marketing Technology (MarTech) group, you will be responsible for routine execution of activities relating to marketing and operational email campaigns; planning, setup, and maintenance of ongoing email programs, automated workflows, and triggered campaigns; and ongoing analysis of existing efforts to deliver continuous optimization and improvement.

In addition to the above, you’ll apply your deep knowledge of Martech systems to support on publishing, integrations, ongoing improvements, and/or system administration activities on core platforms, including Adobe Experience Manager, Marketo, and work management software (JIRA/Asana/Workfront).

Our mission is to support Aviva’s marketing efforts across Canada through a broad range of audiences and distribution channels. The ideal candidate is someone with 3+ years of hands-on experience in marketing platforms, and who is passionate about the latest trends / best-practices in marketing and email campaigns. The team is centered in Markham, but the position is flexible/home based anywhere within Canada. Possibility of occasional travel (1-3 times per year) for team events within GTA.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, monitor, test, and optimize Marketo programs for various stages of the marketing and sales funnels, focused primarily on our intermediated sales channel (broker channel).
  • Manage and implement Marketo campaigns, nurture programs, landing pages, and emails.
  • Collaboration with business divisions to design, build, configure, and implement solutions.
  • Support or lead platform integrations with other MarTech systems and business applications used by the organization
  • In partnership with Enterprise Architecture, identify areas of inefficiency for process and technology optimization and propose scalable solutions
  • Adhere to Adobe standard methodologies, maintain code documentation, test classes for all custom development
  • Take ownership of release cycles to implement and deploy new/updates to existing applications and code
  • Implement, optimize, and track the performance of digital campaigns.
  • Design, layout and build content for email marketing including coding email templates and landing pages, using HTML and CSS as needed.
  • Manage the email calendar to triage requests from various departments to ensure even distribution of deployments.
  • Manage campaign lists, ensure data quality, and understand flow to and from CRM system.
  • Routinely analyze and report on key performance measurements, making recommendations to drive conversions, minimize email opt-outs, and improve content.
  • Identify areas of inefficiency for process and technology optimization and propose scalable solutions.
  • Drive technology platforms innovation/adoption, and educate both within the Marketing team and across the organization.
  • Be a point of contact between outside business divisions and MarTech, as well as being a liaison with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure our MarTech stack integrates seamlessly.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building Marketo programs (MCE certified as asset).
  • Experience working with CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Marketing analytics skills with the ability to extract, analyze, summarize, and communicate data and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of industry standard and best practices for digital and direct marketing contact management (CASL, prioritization etc.)
  • Understanding of B2B and B2B2C contact models, concepts, and strategies.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience working with a CRM tool (Salesforce), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or the Adobe Creative Suite would be key assets
