The Role: Senior Manager of Marketing
The Senior Manager of Marketing is responsible for all marketing efforts within the philanthropy department at VCF and will manage the Marketing Coordinator.
The Senior Manager, Marketing provides leadership in the strategy, planning, and execution of marketing efforts to support resource development, donor relations, and community engagement. This position is also responsible for managing the overall creation and production of marketing collateral including the development, design, distribution, and coordination of materials and will work closely with the Foundation’s Communication + Advocacy team.
You describe yourself as a storyteller – you like to explain, to describe, and have an ability to translate data into digestible, impactful information that compels diverse audiences. You are dedicated to applying REDI (Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) principles into life and work. You are known for deriving satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection to people, ideas and information.
A typical day would involve any combination of:
- Develop and execute integrated marketing plans and programs that optimize content delivery across various marketing and digital communications channels.
- Provide strategic marketing advice and planning that translates into values aligned marketing solutions for Donor Relations, Resource Development, and Community + Equity teams, as well as more broadly across the Foundation.
- Prepare and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
- Research trends and new marketing opportunities; and collaborating on the development of new community-centric philanthropic opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Communications + Advocacy team to develop aligned messaging, coordinate activities, and co-manage shared marketing and communication tools and platforms.
- Manage the production of a wide variety of marketing materials, content, and collateral, including impact reports, videos, photo libraries, etc.; manages external vendors (where needed) to execute on these projects.
- Work alongside and effectively communicate with marketing colleagues to articulate ideas and concepts clearly, being seen as a credible trusted advisor.
- Look for opportunities to model reciprocal learning within the team and the larger VCF organization.

You Have:
- Extensive experience that demonstrates your ability to connect with diverse networks (i.e., IBPOC communities, levels of government, Indigenous groups and political leaders, media, governance, staff, partners)
- Aspiration to work within an anti-oppressive and anti-racist organization and have demonstrated experience applying REDI principles
- Shared values with the Foundation and support the advancement of our commitments, including the Philanthropic Declaration on Reconciliation and Canadian Philanthropic Commitment on Climate Change.
- Confident, personable, clear and persuasive communication skills
- An entrepreneurial spirit and creative and innovative thinking skills
- A high degree of motivation, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to lead in an inclusive and equitable way
- 5+ years of progressive marketing experience, including promotions and campaign planning, digital advertising, collateral creation, social media and content marketing.
- Experience working with multiple departments and servicing internal teams.
- Experience managing multiple requests and timelines.
- Understanding of the charitable landscape including CRA regulations
- Good public speaking and community convening skills
- Understanding of social justice and systems change theory and practices
- Experience in project and/or program management, development, planning and evaluation
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Personable demeanor and are able to work in a team environment
- Adaptability
Specialized Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with social media and digital marketing tools, i.e., Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Facebook/ Instagram/ Twitter for Business, MailChimp, Canva, etc.
- Proficient with web authoring and content management systems. Basic html knowledge and Drupal and WordPress CMS experience is an asset.
- Strong skills and proficiency in design or image formatting and proficient with related software, such as Adobe Pro, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience and familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software. Strong video editing skills are an asset.

- Experience or knowledge on housing or homelessness strategies, climate justice, social innovation and or environmental sustainability

The Team:
In this role, you will report to the Director of Philanthropy and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Philanthropy team and Communications + Advocacy team, as well as with colleagues at the credit union. This team will grow to include a direct report.
Work Location: This competitively rewarded role will enjoy remote working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from your Greater Vancouver based home office and in or with communities that we serve. For this reason, we are looking for someone autonomous, takes initiative, centres relationship building and takes ownership of their role.
Salary: Starting from $102,200 (flexible based on experience)
