Regional Managers across the country are connected to regions, communities and industries and provide a local business connection.Regional Managers provide impartial, trusted guidance tailored to local businesses. They take time to listen and understand business needs and identify government support mechanisms to enable growth opportunities. They nurture partnerships and networks, provide connections, and help businesses navigate local, state and Commonwealth government.AusIndustry is dedicated to enhancing First Nations businesses and their communities’ economic progression. Our ideal candidateAs a Regional Manager you will undertake complex work under broad direction. You will play a major role in the face-to-face, front-line delivery of the department’s national service offering. This includes working directly with the people who create, build and run Australian businesses to help them grow and succeed. You will nurture partnerships and networks, provide connections, and help businesses navigate local, state and Commonwealth government. You will travel extensively throughout your region of responsibility as a key representative of the department and the Australian government.Our ideal candidate will have:
- an understanding of business management and of key industry sectors, including their drivers and economic influences
- strong relationship management skills, including the ability to develop and foster networks and to manage and influence the expectations of key stakeholders
- a capacity to show a high level of initiative and to remain strongly motivated while working independently
- analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to plan and develop solutions in situations that require considerable interpretation and analysis
- strong organisational skills, including the ability to monitor progress and deliver high quality outcomes on time in the context of multiple competing demands
- oral and written communication skills, including the ability to successfully navigate difficult conversations, and represent and speak on behalf of the organisation at public events
- knowledge of the local region, its key stakeholders and priority business sectors
- empathy with cultural sensitivities, challenges and opportunities for First Nations business, business management and key industry sectors, including their drivers, economic influences and the impact these have on First Nations business growth
- experience in using knowledge management systems and communications technologies
- knowledge of government programs and their delivery.

- Travel across your region to ensure wide and representative engagement with stakeholders.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of business programs, including emerging programs
- Provide business and regional insights back into the department to assist in policy development.
- Maintain knowledge of industry and business profiles within your region and the state.
- Identify opportunities to build stakeholder connections and opportunities within the region, through participation in local initiatives, committees, groups and taskforces.
- Manage a work plan and marketing budget to effectively engage across a variety of activities including business events, sponsorships and working groups.
- Undertake public presentations, formally representing the department’s interests.
- Provide support to the Minister and Executives when in your region.
- Keep senior staff informed, escalating issues and proposing solutions on the basis of good judgement and an understanding of priorities.
EligibilityTo perform this role you will require a current driver’s license.To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.NotesThis vacancy is for the AusIndustry Gippsland region, Victoria although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered this is a place-based role and the successful candidate will need to live in the region.
