Department Information

Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of IU Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student’s college choice, persistence, graduation, and success. The Division of Enrollment Management has staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Student Financial Services, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military personnel, and Office for Enrollment Strategy and Insights, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses. The Division is looking for individuals who value and embrace innovation, change, and entrepreneurial mindsets and approaches in advancing the mission of IU Indianapolis.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Implements strategies, programs, and services in support of Enrollment Management.
  • Serves as a cross-functional leader reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Division of Enrollment Management.
  • Participates in the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans and creative projects that achieve enrollment objectives with an emphasis on key target audiences and both internal and external constituent groups.
  • Oversees personnel and resources responsible for producing integrated communications media that support recruitment, enrollment, and potentially other Enrollment Management areas and activities.
  • Cultivates and stewards relationships with key stakeholders to inspire a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation as part of a broader, synchronized multi-disciplinary team of
  • communications and marketing professionals.
  • Creates long and short-term action plans for the execution of items supporting the admissions, recruitment, and marketing plan.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders and internal teams to ensure that all involved are kept up to date on project plans, priorities, key milestones, deliverables, deadlines, and results.
  • Sets targets for milestones and adheres to deadlines.
  • Delegates tasks on projects to those best positioned to complete them.
  • Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options to continue to move the project forward.
  • Serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders when multiple units collaborate on a project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Communicates with leadership to keep projects aligned with admissions and recruitment goals.
  • Performs quality control on projects throughout development to maintain visual continuity and a common voice.
  • Adjusts schedules and targets on the project as priorities, needs, or financing on the project change.
  • Defines and tracks project timeline, scope, and budget.
  • Gathers requirements, deliverables, and timeframes from stakeholders to create project plans.
  • Evaluates project plans and workload, resources, and internal and external creative talent where appropriate.
  • Assesses and evaluates project performance metrics and results; produces clear reports to share with stakeholders.

General Responsibilities

  • Independently develops and executes basic and complex strategic marketing plans for a department or functional area within a department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests from stakeholders and explains information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and acts as a collaborative resource in curating marketing plans to relevant initiatives, groups, events, and programs.
  • Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty, including information on various marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, and direct mail).
  • May participate in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with users of various software programs and creative platforms to create and deliver content and marketing materials in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Generalists; may make process and operational recommendations to manager.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years in the relevant field

Preferred

  • Experience working successfully within a complex organization.
  • Experience working in marketing and communications role(s) that support recruitment, enrollment management, and/or admissions activities.
  • Experience managing and executing across multiple communications and marketing channels and media.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies successfully.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$65,000 – $75,000 per year
