A new and exciting role has been created for a Marketing and Events Assistant to help drive awareness of MyWorld, an innovative programme led by the University of Bristol, focused on the research and development of creative technologies within the West of England. If you’re someone who is excited about the intersection of creativity, science and engineering then this could be the role for you.
The role holder will sit within the Marketing, Communications and Events team (which in turn sits within the Operations team) and will, through marketing campaigns and a variety of events, promote the MyWorld programme to its key audiences and encourage them to take action and participate in the programme. MyWorld is made up of a consortium of 13 partners which includes Aardman, Bristol Old Vic, Digital Catapult and Esprit Film and Television. The programme is funded for five years and will run for another two years, until March 2026.
The role holder will be a critical part of sharing MyWorld’s incredible activities nationally and internationally. Whether this be celebrating projects that have been funded through the programme (such as giant inflatable robots, drone light displays or gigs in the metaverse) through marketing campaigns and technology showcase events, to creating videos to capture the ground-breaking discoveries our researchers are making, to promoting our specialised training courses.
You will be asked to lend your creativity to help the team design campaigns and craft messaging to excite our audience. You will also need to demonstrate your organisational and planning skills, liaising with industry-leading speakers, and communicating with partners to gather updates on their latest activity.
You will create visually engaging content and maintain key communication tools such as our website and SharePoint, to make sure our external and internal audiences have up-to-date information and resources. You will help promote events and support the team by liaising with key suppliers, partners and internal teams.
The role is varied, interesting and dynamic and presents an opportunity to work within a passionate team supporting a programme that is delivering genuinely cutting-edge technological developments to further put the West of England on the map.
MyWorld is an accessible and inclusive programme, and as such we particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups including members of the LGBTQ+ and BAME communities.
If you have good organisational skills, the initiative to work independently, a positive attitude, and the ability to share your thoughts and communicate well with your colleagues, then you could be a good fit for this role.
The role holder will have experience in developing content within a marketing environment and have a good eye for visual design. We are looking for someone who has knowledge of LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and YouTube and is proficient using Microsoft Suite products such as PowerPoint and Word, as well as WordPress, the CMS used for our website.
You will need to be excited and proud to help create events and promote them whilst working effectively to the deadlines required to help deliver them. If you are keen to develop and learn and get involved in photo and video editing, there will be opportunity to do that as well as exploring other areas of marketing and events.
For informal queries about the role, please contact Ben Webb on [email protected].
Interviews are expected to be held on 1st February 2024.
This advert will close at23:59 GMTon Tuesday 23rd January.
We recently launched our strategy to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.
The University of Bristol aims to be a place where everyone feels able to be themselves and do their best in an inclusive working environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential. We want to attract, develop, and retain individuals with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives – particularly people of colour, LGBT+ and disabled people – because diversity of people and ideas remains integral to our excellence as a global civic institution.
