In this vital role the Marketing Senior Manager will lead Rheumatology HCP promotions for Otezla, an important oral option for patients suffering from psoriatic arthritis. Otezla exceeded $2B in worldwide product sales in 2023 and represents an important growth opportunity for Amgen over the next several years with a robust life-cycle management plan. Most importantly, Otezla serves a differentiated and key role in the market for patients who may have tried a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) therapy but are not yet ready for biologic treatment Otezla can have a significant impact on patients and you will evolve Otezla’s promotional strategy and tactics to HCPs.

This role will report to the Marketing Director and is primarily responsible for shaping the HCP promotional strategy for Otezla in Rheumatology. As part of this responsibility, this person will lead the execution of HCP strategy, including creative development of marketing materials to support the Otezla sales force. Furthermore, they will lead the planning and execution of sales force meetings, collaborate in development of brand-building marketing plans and support tactics to accelerate Otezla growth. This person will also work closely with our market research and analytics teams to construct and execute market research plans that inform the brand strategy. This position will consist of agency and vendor management, as well as matrix management across Amgen’s commercial, medical, legal, and regulatory functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the US HCP promotional strategy and message evolution for Rheumatology as the brand faces several upcoming product life-cycle and external market events
  • Lead the execution of all HCP personal promotional materials that align with the brand’s strategic imperatives and behavioral objectives
  • Act as brand liaison to the access/payer team in order to shape and deliver relevant messaging through the sales team
  • Partner with the multi-channel lead and other cross-functional team members to optimize pull-through of the promotional strategy and key content through all HCP tactics
  • Partner with medical, legal, regulatory and other relevant functions to translate scientific data into impactful messaging
  • Work closely with market research, analytics, and competitive intelligence to inform and evolve the promotional strategy by assessing performance, identifying trends, highlighting risks and anticipate future events Develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders and physicians who can help drive key decisions facing the brand
  • Lead the efforts of the HCP agency of record and additional external vendors as needed to support execution of promotional tactics
  • Contribute to the development of the annual brand plan and quarterly business reviews
  • Collaborate with sales training to ensure effective, comprehensive, and impactful training that aids in the top-notch execution of brand strategy and promotional materials
  • Facilitate Medical/Legal/Regulatory compliance approval of all creative assets, and content development through standardized MAC process
  • Collaborate with all cross-brand partners to ensure alignment to the brand strategy and tactical development in a manner that provides the optimal customer experience. Key cross-functional partners include HCP marketing, consumer marketing, sales, medical, value and access, corp comm, and the full Otezla x-functional brand team
  • Travel as needed: ~20%

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or relevant graduate degree in marketing, healthcare management, or related subject area
  • 2+ years’ experience developing pharmaceutical campaign strategies and tactics for specialty products
  • Biotech/pharmaceutical experience
  • Record of growing responsibility within sales and marketing
  • Inflammation experience
  • Experience with evolving strategy and promotional tactics in light of external market events and/or product life-cycle events
  • Ability to drive influence across stakeholders to set direction and align work efforts
  • Marketing competence with proficiency in marketing strategy, market research, segmentation, brand positioning, messaging, and tactical development of materials used by field teams
  • Exhibits passion and empathy to build meaningful experiences for HCPs by understanding their needs and mentality
  • Demonstrated ability to take data and insights and translate them into actionable strategies and tactics
  • Experience working with agencies
  • Ability to exercise strong judgement and live up to high ethical and compliance standards
  • Ability to complete work in a highly matrix environment involving many collaborators
  • Strong self-starter; project management and ability to lead others to meet multiple priorities simultaneously in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong communication effectiveness: the ability to effectively engage, connect, and influence others across the organization, regardless of level or job-function
