The Transportation Global Practice Marketing Manager is responsible for providing a disciplined and quality-driven approach to client and project marketing for the Transportation business unit and will assist the Transportation General Manager with nationwide marketing activities. This position will manage and support the strategic direction of pursuit and proposal development efforts in collaboration with business development and project management leadership.

  • Set vision for marketing team.
  • Manage marketing team in support of efforts in early stages of sales activities to include: manage and direct market research; analyze clients and competitors; develop value propositions and pre-RFP collateral; review and provide suggestions for strengthening capture plans; assist with positioning for new pursuits; and lead/write/edit proposals.
  • Manage all elements of proposal preparation to include: initiate and contribute to go/no-go discussions; facilitate pursuit kickoff and strategy sessions; facilitate proposal planning; track and communicate writing assignments; draft storyboards and proposal/win strategy; lead review meetings and develop / present potential presentation strategies.
  • Monitor project team through additional activities to include: coach the pursuit team through shortlist and interview preparations; participate in debrief and document lessons learned for both wins and losses; develop and manage system to capture metrics, success stories, and proofs.
  • Determine assignments for marketing staff related to proposal preparation and other marketing efforts.
  • Manage the overall quality of pursuit procedures, people, and product to optimize process efficiencies.
  • Assist in strategic planning and help align marketing efforts with priorities.
  • Manage development of marketing specific materials; improve the availability and development of quality graphics.
  • Manage the submittal for industry awards (ACEC; ENR) local trade or national trade publications.
  • Present at marketing support staff meetings.
  • Manage opportunity tracking in CRM to include win/loss reports.
  • Function as expert and participant as CRM super-user for global practice. Guide maintenance of contacts and client companies database.
  • Quantify metrics for measuring success and adjusts to meet those metrics.
  • Manage a reporting system for marketing costs; reviews marketing performance summaries.
  • Analyze current regional marketing efforts and make suggestions for improvement to leadership.
  • Interpret and establish policies, procedures, and strategic goals of the organization.
  • Determine departmental objectives and requirements, organize projects and develop standards and guidelines.
  • Develop people, department tools, systems, procedures, and workflows to optimize process efficiencies and increase efficiency of execution.
  • Responsible for recruitment, development, training, retention and evaluating performance of the marketing team.
  • Act as liaison for internal communication of GP-wide marketing news and developments, partnering with the office’s resources and leadership.
  • Attend professional organizations and conferences; build professional network.
  • Develop and implement promotional initiatives.
  • Support and assist in the development of the GP business plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
  • Eight (8) years either as an A/E professional, in marketing or sales with a professional services firm
  • 15 years in marketing, business development, or sales with a professional services firm. Experience at an A/E firm strongly preferred.
  • Previous management experience is preferable.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
  • Candidates must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
  • Extensive knowledge of the request for Information and Request for Proposal process in the A/E/C industry both from a private and public sector perspective, including previous experience developing and coordinating responses / to RFPs.
  • Extensive knowledge of and previous experience preparing and coordination preparation of qualification submittals and proposal development in terms of deliverables, schedules, and the coordination of information resources to meet schedules.
  • Expert level proficiency with basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite products preferred.
  • Previous experience developing and delivering training presentations related to proposal communications, proposal strategies, business development and/or pursuit strategies.
  • Certified Proposal Management Professional (APMP) or equivalent preferred
