Network Infrastructure: The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.

This role is for the Optical Networks product marketing team leader within the Network Infrastructure (NI) Marketing organization. The NI marketing organization drives all aspects of marketing and communications activities, supporting the complete portfolio of products and solutions provided by the NI business group globally.

What you will learn and contribute to

The optical networking market is amid an exciting period of change, introducing new coherent technologies, line systems evolution and network automation capabilities that bring new value to our customers. Nokia is a leader in optical networking, and its solutions span metro, long haul and subsea applications for communications service providers, cable/MSOs, internet content providers, cloud companies, and enterprises worldwide.

The NI marketing organization seeks a seasoned and dynamic marketing professional who will lead the Optical Networks product marketing team to drive marketing activities supporting the Optical Networks business. 

As part of the team, you will:

  • Define the marketing strategy and build an integrated marketing plan to position Nokia as a thought leader and innovator in the optical networking space.
  • Lead the Optical Networks product marketing team to develop compelling narratives, product value propositions and a comprehensive set of marketing collateral for the optical networks portfolio addressing a range of audiences, including sales and pre-sales, customers, industry analysts, and the broader industry ecosystem. 
  • Work with several teams across the marketing organization to drive the execution of the marketing plan, including the marketing programs management, cross-portfolio marketing, field marketing and communications teams. 
  • Support external communications with customers, industry analysts, domain experts, media and press regularly to represent the portfolio of products and solutions.
  • Provide a rich set of sales tools and training enabling customer-facing Nokia representatives to successfully position our products and solutions in relation to the competition.
  • Support ‘getting the word out’ through active social media engagement, and ensure our products and solutions are visible at the right trade shows and industry conferences.
  • The successful candidate for this position must be able to work closely with the Optical business leader, product line management (PLM), R&D, technical pre-sales, business development, marketing, and sales teams.
  • Travel: Internationally up to 25% of the time

Your skills and experience

You have :

  • At least 10 years of relevant and progressive experience with at least 5 years of experience in a senior marketing team leader role.
  • Subject matter expertise in Optical Networking products and technologies, such as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), wavelength switching and ROADMs, OTN switching, coherent optics and transmission, network management and automation. 
  • Understand customer applications and use cases such as data center interconnection (DCI), metro networking, long-haul networks, wavelength and OTN services. Topics of specialization may include wavelength switching & ROADMs, Fiber transmission bands, optical amplification, open line systems, open optical networking, and IP-optical integration.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes writing and delivering clear, concise papers, articles, and presentations that can effectively influence executives and technical decision-makers. 
  • Able to lead multi-functional teams. Must be able to create consensus and guide teams to develop and execute marketing programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. MBA is a plus.
