As we expand nationally, we’re looking for a steady, detail-oriented operator to ensure we grow smart and stay compliant.About the Role:We’re hiring a Head of HR to lead day-to-day operations across people compliance, employment law, and legal risk. This role is not just about shaping our culture- it’s about protecting what we’re building by ensuring our operations, employee policies, and contracts are legally sound and up to date. You’ll work cross-functionally with Sales, Ops, and Marketing to ensure every department is covered and aligned with state-by-state cannabis and employment regulations.What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee all HR compliance operations across multiple states, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee documentation
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures aligned with California and national labor laws
  • Stay up to date on-and implement-employment and cannabis-related regulations across every state we operate in
  • Draft and manage employment agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts, and other legal documents
  • Act as internal counsel and compliance advisor, working closely with execs and department leads
  • Ensure risk mitigation and adherence to local/state/federal cannabis, hemp, and employment law
  • Manage HR systems and tools to ensure accurate recordkeeping, compliance, and reporting
  • Serve as liaison to external legal counsel and state regulators when needed
  • Lead audits, investigations, or state-required filings and documentation as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in HR compliance, operations, or in-house legal roles
  • Prior cannabis industry experience required; MSO experience strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of California labor law and a strong understanding of how to scale policies across multiple jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with cannabis regulatory bodies (e.g., CDPH, DCC, FDA, USDA, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret state-by-state cannabis and employment legislation—and implement changes accordingly
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong process instincts, and low ego
  • JD or legal background a plus but not required if you’ve managed legal compliance hands-on
  • You’re calm under pressure, organized in chaos, and thrive in fast-paced environments
