Director of Sales & Marketing

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Sales & Marketing is a dynamic, hands-on leader responsible for setting the strategic vision, driving execution in both sales and marketing, and ensuring these functions are aligned with the overall business and product goals. This role – 60/40 split, marketing to sales – will focus on creating scalable processes to fuel market penetration, growth, and revenue generation, embedding a performance-oriented, data-driven approach throughout the Sales and Marketing departments.

This is a small sales and marketing team selling into a niche market. The Director of Sales & Marketing will be a pivotal figure in aligning the sales and marketing functions to drive business growth, market share, and revenue generation, ensuring that Charity Dynamics continues to lead and innovate in the nonprofit market.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Market Expert: As the head of marketing and sales, this role is an expert in the nonprofit technology space with a finger on the pulse of trends, challenges, competitors and opportunities.
  • Strategic Vision: Work with the CEO and leadership team to set and execute the strategic vision for sales and marketing, driving market penetration, growth, and revenue generation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with numerous departments within the company to leverage insights, expertise, and perspectives for the generation of rich, multifaceted marketing content.
  • Emotionally Intelligent: Be a motivational and inspirational leader, hands-on when needed, for whom the team will respect and work hard.
  • Partnership Channel: Own and optimize the partnership channel, working closely with partners for co-marketing opportunities and maximizing exposure for thought leadership and solutions.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the sales and marketing budgets, ensuring expenditures are aligned with business objectives and ROI expectations.

Marketing

  • Brand Voice: Develop and maintain a uniquely crafted voice for the Charity Dynamics brand, overseeing all marketing functions.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Actively participate in the development and execution of go-to-market strategies and marketing campaigns while bringing a hands-on approach to content creation, digital marketing, and analytics to maximize MQL generation.
  • Marketing Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the marketing team, including a Marketing Coordinator, to achieve high performance, while being directly involved in key marketing initiatives.
  • Content Strategy: Direct and participate in the creation and distribution of compelling content across traditional and digital channels, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Marketing Metrics & Insights: Identify and track key marketing performance metrics, translating data into actionable insights, and making informed, hands-on adjustments to strategies as needed.

Sales

  • Lead Sales Team: Directly manage and lead team of outside sales representatives, ensuring the alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement robust sales strategies, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust as necessary to optimize results.
  • Sales Metrics & Reporting: Identify, track, and report on key sales performance metrics, providing insights and forecasts to Leadership Team.
  • Sales Development: Oversee sales representatives in driving lead generation and qualification strategies to feed the sales pipeline.
  • Strategic Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with key prospects, stakeholders, and partners to facilitate sales and business development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in developing and executing marketing and sales strategies across various channels and customer touchpoints to maximize MQL lead funnel and closed deals. Experience targeting the nonprofit vertical strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to influence, coach, manage, and motivate a diverse marketing & sales team while being a strategic thought partner on the Leadership Team.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making to effectively manage marketing strategy and sales pipeline.
  • Tools & Technology: Expertise in utilizing technology/tools effectively for sales enablement and marketing automation, including platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, Lusha, Basecamp and Google Analytics.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to ensure clarity and buy-in across all parts of the organization.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed and stand for long periods of time (ex. industry conferences, company meetings, prospect visits); has passport for potential international travel
