Director of Sales- Ricoh IT Services and Communication Services
The Director of Sales (DOS) provides leadership within a defined marketplace. The DOS is responsible for developing strategies and objectives aligned with the corporation’s directives. The DOS plays a lead role in acquiring and developing individuals who form a group of designated Sales Managers/Sales Teams, whose primary focus is retaining our existing customers, establishing new customers, and growing our services’ line of business.
The DOS implements and champions tactical actions that impact Ricoh critical success factors including but not limited to effective utilization of resources including full sales headcount, Hardware, Software and Services’ top line revenue, and bottom line contribution.
The position is also responsible for People Management activities, including but not limited to: hiring, coaching, performance management, development, corrective action and termination. Candidate should have background in IT Service & Communication Sales.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide input on budget allocation for the define marketplace within the Region and on the Local Management Council process improvement initiatives;
- Provide leadership with Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives linked to the defined marketplace;
- Provide leadership, direct activities and communicates strategic direction to the area Sales organization;
- Develop and communicate sales related policies, procedures, and processes related to sales activity, account strategy, pipeline development, performance expectations;
- Oversee compliance with the national sales compensation plan. Inspect the administration of the plan for assigned area. Provide feedback to corporate on sales compensation plan effectiveness and design;
- Ensure the customer understands Ricoh’s strategic direction. Oversee major account activities and RFP responses;
- Communicate “upward” the market trends, customer attitudes, competitive intelligence and needs of the sales organization;
- Solicit customer input and feedback during customer visits and round table discussions;
- Engage internal and external resources to problem solve for the customer and throughout Ricoh;
- Spend time in the field to observe first hand market trends, customer attitudes, effectiveness of sales promotions, and to evaluate preparedness, knowledge and training needs of the sales force;
- Work with the other functional leaders to develop and drive IT service and software strategies to drive revenue;
- Support Sales Managers in the assignment of sales territories consistent with company sales coverage strategies and territory analysis;
- Keep sales team apprised of changing policies, competitive developments and industry and market trends. Holds direct reports accountable for protecting RICOH engagements from competitive threats and cancellations;
- Reviews monthly performance reports and adjusts sales programs and strategies to meet the financial objectives.
- Responsibility for pipeline management, including forecasting monthly, quarterly, and revenue generation;
- Prepare and participate in quarterly Operations Reviews;
- Attend and participate in leadership meetings and conventions;
- Responsible for the development, assignment, and implementation of vertical market strategy;
- People Management activities, including but not limited to: hiring, coaching, performance management, development, corrective action and termination;
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
- Post Secondary Education in business related discipline or equivalent business experience
- Minimum of 5 years successful business-to-business sales experience, preferably with development experience to Fortune 500, national or global companies
- Minimum of 5 years of People management experience in sales, marketing and mid-management (staffing, planning, accounting, managing profit and loss statements) to include Major Account Management and Strategic Account Management
Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for self and others by establishing clear expectations and priorities
- Superior knowledge of sales techniques including cold-calling, networking, lead generation, all with the ability to capture and close the deal
- Adept at building key strategic relationships throughout the organization to drive achievement of business objectives
- Strong public presentation skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to express complex ideas in a simplified logical manner
- Strong proficiency in the use of MS Office application
- Strong business acumen, customer focus and a demonstrated balanced approach to decision making (company, client & employee interests)
- Strategic thinker, ability to outline a course of action, and analyze potential outcomes and anticipate pitfalls
- Self starter, action oriented, effective consulting skills
- Team builder who is committed to a team approach and the development of talent, who demonstrates effective leadership skills by leading through example
Other Requirements
- Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as this position involves local travel on a regular basis (and auto insurance coverage per Ricoh’s policy)
- 30-50% travel to branches may be required
