Job Summary/Basic Function Central State University is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Digital Marketing Specialist to take the reins of our digital communications initiatives – managing audience engagement and communications campaigns – within the Division of Institutional Advancement. This integral role goes beyond traditional marketing – it’s about shaping our online presence, engaging diverse audiences, and spearheading impactful university campaigns.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of University Communications
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Digital Strategy Development: 

  • Be at the forefront of crafting and implementing comprehensive digital marketing strategies aligned seamlessly with the university’s overarching mission. 
  • Dive deep into market research, identifying trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities within the dynamic digital landscape. 

Social Media Management: 

  • Assume the lead in managing and expanding the university’s social media footprint across platforms. 
  • Craft visually compelling content and regularly analyze social media analytics, ensuring campaigns continuously evolve for maximum impact. 

Email and Content Marketing: 

  • Design and execute targeted email marketing campaigns tailored for various stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and prospective students. 
  • Craft personalized and impactful content to not only foster engagement but also drive successful fundraising initiatives. 
  • Academic Program Marketing: Take the lead on promoting academic programs through digital, social media, in-stream, and email marketing, supporting brand awareness and driving enrollment interest. 
  • Brand Positioning: Elevate our university’s brand positioning within the digital space through innovative and strategic approaches. 
  • Enrollment Marketing Campaigns: Drive specialized digital marketing campaigns to feature the university’s proposition to prospective students, ensuring a dynamic and engaging content marketing approach to gain the attention of prospective students. 
  • Campus Marketing Council: Collaborate closely with the Campus Marketing Council, ensuring that digital strategies align seamlessly with broader marketing initiatives across the university. 

Website Optimization: 

  • Collaborate with our web development team to ensure the university’s website remains current, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines. 
  • Implement SEO strategies, enhancing the visibility of our digital footprint to attract organic traffic.  
  • Help craft audience personas for segmentation purposes; create landing pages/webpage forms; support lead generation in collaboration with enrollment team; develop value-add program materials within the marketing communications funnel to support lead generation; print collateral materials, and maintain accurate analytics tracking. Digital Marketing Specialist Digital Advertising: 
  • Strategize and execute digital advertising campaigns across platforms like Google Ads, Facebook, and LinkedIn. 
  • Manage third-party vendors for grant-funded national campaigns, overseeing the holistic strategy development, execution, monitoring, and assessment. 
  • Contribute to the development of audio and video products for marketing outreach and dissemination. Contribute to the development of digital & print resources such as posters, brochures, and electronic media to advance the outreach and public awareness the university.
  • Coordinate with graphic designers, team members, and vendors to develop media assets within the university to ensure high quality products.

Analytics and Reporting: 

  • Leverage cutting-edge analytics tools to track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators, providing invaluable insights for strategic decision-making. 
Minimum Qualifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field. 
  • Proven digital marketing experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit sectors.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, email marketing tools, and digital advertising platforms. 
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to staying abreast of digital marketing trends. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Advanced project management and coordination of a fast-paced marketing and events calendar. Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and work independently. 
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and manage omnichannel marketing content. 
  • Possess a sense of urgency; self-motivated and detail-minded. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships. 
  • Proactive approach in resolving problems and issues.
  • Experience with survey applications such as Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, or Google Forms. Experience with MailChimp or other email marketing solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel data files.
