Demand Planner

Irving Consumer Products is a leading manufacturer of premium tissue products – including national brands and private label. We also manufacture private label diapers and training pants for North American retailers.

The Demand Planner will be based out of Dieppe, New Brunswick (100 Midland Drive, E1A 7G9). As a member of the Supply chain team, the Demand Planner is responsible for owning the process of consolidating the Irving Personal Care demand plan for diapers & training pants. The Senior Demand planner role works closely with the planning departments to ensure supply meets demand by utilizing/analyzing customer data to support forecast accuracy metrics. This is a permanent, full-time position. The primary language of work is English.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in similar job, or other suitable combination of education and experience be considered.
  • Keen understanding of planning and operations processes.
  • Organized, adaptable team player with ability to work with a variety of departments such as operations, maintenance, warehouse, sales, customer service etc. to accomplish objectives.
  • Advanced understanding and familiarity with MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain a professional approach.
  • Positive, flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Self-starter who can act and does not require close supervision

The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:

Gather & Analyze Data

  • Gather data, analyze & provide insights from various department/tools including Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Customer, Finance, and others
  • Analyze and adjust demand plan based on statistical forecast, accuracy measures and other inputs.
  • Statistical analysis of the system generated forecast, weekly and monthly maintenance activities in the system.
  • Publish monthly demand plan using Demantra software.
  • Work with key stakeholders to evaluate and improve process to better meet the needs of the business
  • Monitor monthly/weekly bookings vs forecast and raise issues/concerns on demand variations
  • Coordinate with sales to understand the demand forecast drivers including any promotional plans
  • Lead monthly demand meetings with the business & weekly meetings with sales account managers

Maintenance of Forecast data

  • Maintenance of forecast data (adding new items, removing old items, chaining of history, keeping history clean for statistical forecast purposes) to publish an accurate monthly demand plan
  • Make to order customers, reconciliation of sales & remaining demand, and provide insight on buying patterns to improve data reporting for the business
  • Update monthly demand for a rolling 12 months for material planning process
  • Facilitate budget information for following years

Sales & Operations Planning

  • Supply planning monthly updates of available to sell & production plans
  • Responsible for publishing various daily, weekly & period end reports for publication to the business
  • Lead Monthly meeting with site operations, sales & management on Monthly Available to sell & Capacity
  • Close relationship with Sales, Marketing, Product Development & Finance.

Other tasks

  • Comply with IPC safety policies & procedures, personal conduct, and housekeeping
  • Work with key stakeholders to evaluate and improve process to better meet the needs of the business
  • Support Supply Chain cost savings initiatives
  • Back up for Senior Supply Chain Specialist
  • All other duties as assigned
