Boeing is seeking a dynamic communications professional based at the London headquarters (Hybrid working options are also available) of our UK & Ireland operations to serve as a strategic partner and counsel for our robust and growing defence business.

In this role, the successful applicant will develop approaches to communication plans and strategies tailored to support Boeing’s UK defence business, as well as partner across the team within Europe and the United States to ensure strategies and tactics reach target audiences, align with Boeing customers and partners, and positively impact business outcomes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead external communications for Boeing defence and defence services programmes in the UK, including Apache, Chinook, C-17 Globemaster, P-8A Poseidon and E-7 Wedgetail, and digital solutions.
  • Provide senior leaders with strategic communications advice and coaching, especially speechwriting and interview preparation.
  • Manage and plan the promotion of stories to key media and evaluate the merit of media inquiries.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and stakeholders within the UK’s aerospace and defence community.
  • Apply and enforce applicable highly complex communication standards and formats (e.g., corporate identity, branding, editorial, web, advertising) to ensure consistency and clarity.
  • Understand and apply communications principles and metrics to planning.
  • Anticipate, plan for and manage responses to issues, especially related to defence, sustainability and reputation, in the UK.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Boeing’s digital and social media teams to promote Boeing among UK stakeholders.
  • Align with Government Affairs, complementing their efforts to improve Boeing’s reputation within government.

Work Authorisation:

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE CURRENT LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO LIVE AND WORK IN UK. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. (Communications/Public Relations/Marketing preferred)
  • Significant work experience in Communications
  • Experience creating and implementing communications plans, strategies and tactics, especially focused on external audiences
  • An understanding of the aerospace and defence community in the UK, as well as existing relationships with journalists and stakeholders within it
