Eaton’s Electrical sector is seeking a 12-month Engineering intern to join our Central Engineering team! This position is based out of our Burlington, Ontario facility.

Eaton is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Central Engineering Team for a 1-year term. The Engineering Intern will be located in Burlington, Ontario.

Position Overview:

This position will work closely with product development engineers to support in the new product development process. This includes contributing to a product specification definition development. Working with marketing to capture market customer requirements and to finally releasing a product requirement document.

The role will also involve in designing to meet product standards that govern construction and approval body acceptance of designs. There will also be opportunity to automate 3D modelling tools and learn manufacturing methodologies and limitations. The candidate will work in a team environment where relationship building and experience in working with people with other work styles can be gained.

Essential Functions:

  • Support for the development of an improved SharePoint, Confluence websites and JIRA Kanban pages for projects.
  • Automate process to handle testing request in the lab and prioritize the requests in JIRA.
  • Contribute to build automation in creating 3D models (parts & assemblies) and develop drawings based on Eaton’s standard templates.
  • Participate in design reviews and other project team meetings.
  • Build and setup Firmware cybersecurity testing plan and process.
  • Support in setting up firmware development environment in GitHub.
  • Understand and apply product standards to ensure final design compliance to approval body standards.
  • Prepare Change Orders in Eaton’s life cycle management tool (Enovia) and upload models and drawings for production release.
  • Liaise with manufacturing and purchasing teams to support new part setups.
  • Support tool development that will improve department efficiencies and repeatability of work processes.
  • Manage project timelines, schedule project activities and delegate role specific deliverables to team roster members.
  • Support the PROPM reporting process.
  • Supporting Engineering Department with cost improvements and quality initiatives.
  • Complete other duties/projects as required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in and returning to a University degree program (specifically 3rd year electrical with computer engineering student or 3rd year computer engineering student).
  • No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 80km of Burlington, Ontario to be considered.
  • Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada with no company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship or co-op experience an asset.

Position Criteria:

  • Interested in learning hardware and software application and tools.
  • Interested in learning automation script development (JIRA, Enovia, Inventory, Phyton, etc.), software and cyber security tools setup and development environment setup.
  • Good analytical/problem-solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
  • Exposure to ACAD Electrical and Microsoft applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for innovation & continuous improvement, and willingness to challenge status quo.
