Issues Management – AML Capital Markets

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing practice has an opening for an Issues Management Analyst with Capital Markets experience to place at our client, a top 5 Bank

Client: Big Five Bank

Terms: 12 month contract

Job Description:

This position supports the Issues Management function for Capital Markets (CM). By acting as a Project Manager/Coordinator, responsible for supporting the effective management of AML related projects (non-IT projects) to completion. Each Issue Management Lead will act principally in the areas of project planning, project monitoring and integrated project management. Key accountabilities are described below:

• Executes on effective management of projects, principally in the areas of project planning, project monitoring, and integrated project management – independently and as part of a Team.
• Manages assigned aspects of the project life cycle and works with relevant project stakeholders as required. Assists in the planning, preparation, and maintenance of project team schedules, documents, Management Action Plan updates, maintains project issues logs and databases.
• Manages Issues from start to finish including Issue Identification templates, Management Action Plans (project plans), monitoring progress, escalations, evidence collection for Issue closure etc. while complying with applicable enterprise standards (e.g. Risk, Audit, Compliance).
• Escalates early warning signs and deviations from the plan to the VP.
• Supports the VP by monitoring and controlling project activities including risk, issues, status, communication, planning and execution.
• Proposes recommendations and adjustments and publishes periodic project status reports.
• Maintains project documentation repositories.
• Performs various project tasks, including leading stakeholder meetings, taking meeting minutes, issuing communication releases, and performing maintenance of project tracking logs (i.e., issues, change control, etc.)

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge and Background – This position requires a strong ability to think critically and undertake a project from start to finish. A candidate with a University degree is preferred. In addition, 2-4 years of expertise within project management and/or stakeholder management is required in a compliance, audit, risk or AML function. For ex. PCO, BA, junior PM. In addition, intermediate Excel (Pivot table, v-lookup etc.) is required. MS Access experience (creating/pulling data/macros) is nice to have.
• Communication and Other Core Skills – This position requires an individual with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills, who can consult, communicate, influence and collaborate with different colleagues across levels and business groups. A key competency in this role is a strong problem-solving ability with strategic thinking. The individual should be able to effectively manage relationships and engage in difficult conversations in a neutral or positive way.
• Additional Skills – This role requires an understanding and knowledge of AML Capital Markets products, processes, structure and technology. This role requires a process efficiency and continuous improvement mindset. Industry certification or designations in related areas of specialty is preferred. An understanding of Audit trails and audit evidence would be beneficial.
