Summary:
This position is the Brand Ambassador of Golf Ontario, responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of all branding, marketing, and communication functions. This includes leading the conceptualization and design of social media campaigns, writing, and distribution of press releases, website creation, design, and updates. Management of a seasonal team to compile content at all events, competitions, and relevant projects. Responsible for supporting member communication via social channels, emails, and newsletters.
The ideal candidate is a multi-disciplined creative designer and storyteller with a background in website and graphic design, communications, marketing, or relevant field, and will possess outstanding interpersonal communications skills as well as being a self-starter.
Reports To: Chief Marketing & Development Officer.
Status: Full-Time Permanent.

Principal Accountabilities:
The Manager, Brand, Marketing & Communications of Golf Ontario is the keeper of the brand, and responsible for supporting the delivery of the strategic and operational Brand, Marketing and Communications areas in support of the business through.
Golf Ontario Brand:
- Creation, distribution, and adherence to the GO Brand Standards Manual.
- Creation of all designed material including but not limited to logos, business cards, signage, social and web graphics, and miscellaneous projects.
- Coordinates design of printed and online promotional materials – such as media advertising, yearbook, sport development material, and presentation materials.
- Provides consultation to contracted printers to ensure GO standards.
- Supports requests for design and creative needs from GO staff, media, and stakeholders.
- Coordinates design of new revenue generation material (presentations, collateral, etc.)
Marketing:
- Manages and develops key GO and program websites including maintenance, content and information posting, appearance standardization, regular updates, domain renewal, and hosting.
- Design of microsites as needed for fundraising and another programming (i.e. Junior Golf Pathway, Youth on Course, Ontario Open, Golf Niagara).
- Develops new and current content for website(s).
- Manages GO online promotions, contests, giveaways, and online advertising.
- Leads the assignment of supporting staff resources to; attend Golf Ontario competitions and build photography and video content while managing an archive photo & video library.
Communications:
- Drive the strategy related to online and social media channels in order to create strong content for these channels through the deployment of resources and execution of a strong channel-specific communications strategy.
- Lead the communications team in; preparing press releases, maintaining and growing a media/pr database, working closely with media onsite at Championships and events and track earned and paid media results, and creating communication plans to optimize existing programs or events and provide onsite support at the majority of our championships.
Social Media:
- Manage GO social media channels (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkTree, LinkedIn).
- Create content for Golf Ontario, Team Ontario, Ontario Open, Participation Programs, and Junior Golf Pathway.
- Lead the Communications Team in capturing; on-site photography, videography, and drone footage.
- Execute a strong channel-specific communication strategy.
Requisite Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership and design/marketing/communications experience gained primarily with a professional or amateur sports organization or business involved in the sporting industry.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma, preferably in Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Passion for working in sports and/or golf.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of evolving digital and social media platforms.
- Technical skills – Excellent design and creative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong people management skills for dealing with media/external partners.
- Bias for action and results orientation.
- Operates with integrity, a strong values system, and a sense of personal urgency.
- A winning, passionate and positive attitude that supports an engaging environment and encourages others to achieve outstanding results.
- As a member of the Operational Leadership Team, support the delivery of business operations and achievement of organizational goals.
